2010 Volunteers - Applications Due August 1, 2010 PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 21 January 2009
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
- Applications should be postmarked/emailed to our office no later than August 1, 2010.

Application packages include the following:
- completed application and character reference.
- a 500-word, typed essay based on what you would contribute to the Russian children.
- a copy of your college transcript demonstrating at least a C average or diploma.
- a letter of recommendation from an employer or faculty member.
- an official background check, including data on background history/convictions.
- a copy of your birth certificate, drivers license, and passport. ANDORC is able to send applicants to Russia for a period of 4 months or longer. We do not accept applicants who are unwilling to work for less than 16 weeks. ANDORC pays for 30 hours of coordinating services provided by a local resident, which includes airport shuttle to your apartment and registration into the country. If you are accepted by ANDORC for the Volunteer Program: ANDORC will provide volunteers with a visa, airline tickets, an apartment near the orphanage, and training with a prepaid coordinator. You will be expected to volunteer in the orphanage for 35 hours per week. Volunteer work consists of stimulating the minds of the children through play activities, reading, and general nurturing. (Note that without volunteers on site, many of the children rarely get out of their cribs.) It is important that you understand that some of the babies may have HIV. Volunteers will not be expected to work with the children that definitely have HIV, but there are risks involved. Volunteers are expected to pay for several tests prior to the trip, including: a required HIV test, physical examination by a physician, and shots for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B. Applicants will not be accepted for this opportunity if diagnosed with the HIV virus, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or if not of sound mind. ANDORC will pay for additional medical testing in Russia required by the orphanage. Volunteers are expected to pay for additional/personal traveling expenses to other countries or within Russia. ANDORC will only be responsible for the volunteer's airline tickets to and from Russia.
